BENJAMIN WING SON OF MATTHEW WING AND ELIZABETH MOTT RICKETSON Benjamin Wing (Matthew Wing, Stephen Wing, Rev. John, Matthew, born July 1, 1698 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts in the Ricketson House. Benjamin died November 15, 1776 at Dartmouth at the approximate age of 78. Benjamin Wing would marry three time. His first marriage was to Content Tucker on October 17, 1722 at Dartmouth. Content Tucker was born January 12, 1695 at Dartmouth, the daughter of Abraham Tucker and Hannah Mott. At this writing it is unknown when Content Tucker Wing died, but her last child was born in 1734. Benjamin's second marriage was to Rhoda Rogers on October 19, 1738 at Pembroke, Plymouth county, Massachusetts. Rhoda was born May 25, 1713, at Marshfield, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts, the daughter of Thomas Rogers and Bethia Ewell. Rhoda Rogers Wing died April 21, 1758 at the age of 44. Benjamin Wing's third and last marriage was to Mary Devol Potter on December 6, 1764. Mary was born April 3, 1705 at Dartmouth, the daughter of Joseph Devol and Mary Soule. Mary was the widow of Nathaniel Potter. Mary died November 5, 1798 at Westport, Bristol Co., Massachusetts at the age of 93. Benjamin lived in Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts Westport. The house created by Benjamin Wing upon his farm in Westport was standing up to about the year of 1898. Mrs. Sophia Wing Pettey, who had always lived near the old house, wrote in 1903, "As a child I heard that after the house was raised and boarded that on account of war it was left; that the builders went away, where I never learned, and when they returned, trees had grown up to the rafters, probably on the lower side." This abandonment might have occurred during the Revolutionary War when the British were operating in the vicinity of Newport and Dartmouth. There is now standing in the vicinity of the old house a pear tree more than 150 years old and still in bearing condition. Benjamin Wing and Content Tucker had the following children: 1.
