| BUTLER WING SON OF ELISHA WING AND MEHITABLE BUTLER Butler Wing (Elisha Wing, Stephen Wing, Rev. John, Matthew), born September 17, 1702 at Rochester, died March 9, 1769 at Wareham (same as Rochester) at approximately the age of 66. Butler married Barsheba Clifton on Deember 9, 1730 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Barsheba was born May 9, 1708 at Rochester, the daughter of Savory Clifton and Dorothy Burgess. Barsheba died in 1777 at Wareham at the age of 69. *Just as a note of interest, Barsheba had two sisters that also married Wing men. Not unlike his grandfather, Stephen Wing, Butler Wing has been described as a man of affairs and was very active in real estate transactions. His chosen trade was carpenter but is also often referred to as a yeoman in several deeds. It is believed that Butler lived near his father, Elisha Wing, in Wareham on the Sippican River. In fact, Butler bought land that adjoined his father's property from his brother Jedediah Wing. Butler Wing and Barsheba Clifton had the following children: 1. Elisha Wing, born July 7, 1731 at Rochester, Massachusetts. Elisha died October 9, 1731...only months old. 2. Elisha Wing, born July 17, 1733 at Rochester, died April 5, 1757 at the age of 24. 3.
