EBENEZER WING
SON OF NATHANIEL WING AND SARAH HATCH

Ebenezer Wing, born in 1694 at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, died June 6, 1789 at the age of ninety-five at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. It is believed that Ebenezer was born at the Natty Wing house in Pocasset. There seems to be some disparity about exactly when Ebenezer died; either 1789 or 1792 at the age of ninety-six. At any rate, we can be certain that Ebenezer lived to a ripe old age. He lived his life at Sandwich and is buried at the Cataumet Cemetery in Sandwich.

Ebenezer married Elizabeth (Jane) Blackmore (Blackmer), the older sister of Jemima Blackmore who married Ebenezer's older brother, Nathaniel Wing. Ebenezer and Elizabeth were married on October 31, 1721 at Rochester, Plymouht Co., Massachusetts. Elizabeth was born on December 8, 1693 at Rochester, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Lt. Peter Blackmore (Blackmer) and Elizabeth Unknown.

Lt. Blackmore refers to his daughter, Elizabeth, in his will that was proven on April 24, 1717; (this will is on file at Plymouth Co.)

"I give to my three daughters Elizabeth, Jemima and Mary, all my moveable Estate and Effects that I have not in this will otherwise disposed of to be equally divided between them immediately after my decease. But it is understood besides her equal share I give to my daughter Elizabeth that bed and furniture and the other moveables she now hath in her possession, as also the curtains about the bed in the front room; for the legacy I have received given her by her uncle William, when she was called Jane, she acquitted her right to said legacy; and also Jemima is to have her equal share, etc... I also give my biggest iron pot to Elizabeth as part of her Ten pounds, etc."

Admittedly, the portion of the will above is somewhat confusing. It has lead researchers to believe that Elizabeth (Jane) was married prior to her marriage to Ebenezer. The Smith manuscripts say that she was married to Jacob Unknown, although no date is given and no records have been found to prove this marriage. The fact that Elizabeth was twenty-eight years old at the time of her marriage to Ebenezer it is very possible that she was married to someone else.

Ebenezer bought property in Sandwich in 1732. The original of deed, executed on May 9, 1732 by Richard Handy to Ebenezer Wing for land in Sandwich was in the possession of Mrs. C. W. Anderson of Bloomington, Illinois. Mrs. Anderson is a descendants of Ebenezer and the full test was printed in the OWL.

Ebenezer Wing and Elizabeth (Jane) Blackmore (Blackmer) had the following children;

1. Simeon Wing, born November 15, 1722 at the Natty Wing House in Pocasset.

2. Nathaniel Wing "Junr", born in April of 1724 at Pocasset.

3. Sarah Wing born about 1726, died November 21, 1815.

4. Mehitable Wing born about 1728 at Pocasset.

5. David Wing, born 1735, Natty Wing House at Pocasset.
