EDWARD WING
SON OF JOHN WING AND MARY PERRY

Edward Wing (John Wing, Stephen Wing, Rev. John, Matthew) born March 3, 1690 at Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, died December 22, 1772 at about the age of 82. Edward was married twice. He first married Elizabeth Hunt in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., New Jersey about 1715. According to Dr. Conway Wing, "among the Friends' records at Shrewsbury, New Jersey is a marriage recorded to have taken place between Edward Wing, son of John and Elizabeth(?) of Sandwich and Elizabeth Hunt in the early part of the eighteenth century. We know of no other Edward Wing of Sandwich of that erly day but Edward, the son of John and Mary Perry Wing. "

Edward married for the second time to Rebecca Bennett Slocum on July 5, 1734. Rebecca was the widow of Peleg Slocum. She was born July, 1700. It is not know with certainty if Rebecca died in January of 1787 or January of 1781.

Edward made a will at Sandwich on September 29, 1758 and added a codicil on November 5, 1766. He resided at Sandwich in 1761 at Scorton's Neck. His home was described as a fine old mansion upon Scorton Neck that was built in 1761. The home was visited frequently by Wing reunionists at Sandwich and eventually became the property of Mrs. E. H. Blake. The home continued in ownership and possession of the Wing family for many years and was occupied by Edward's immediate descendants for more than one hundred and thrity years. Much of the household furniture of Edward Wing was still preserved in the fine old home, including Edward's family Bible, upon the fly lear of which is written "Bought by Thomas Carr for Edward Wing, Price Twenty five Pound Old Tenor Annoque Domini, 1746," printed in London in 1745. It was the property of Mitchell Wing of Boston.

Edward's will was probated in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, April 6, 1771. of Sandwich. Will dated Sept. 29, 1758; codicil dated Nov. 5, 1766; will and codicil proved April 6, 1772. Sons Edward and John executors; mentions wife Rebecca and bequeaths her among other things, "my negro girl Sue;" sons Edward and John, daughters Mary and Anna.

Edward Wing and Rebecca Bennett Slocum had the following children:

1. Edward Wing born June 30, 1734.

2. John Wing Jr., born October 16, 1735.

3. Mary Wing, born May 6, 1740.

4. Anna Wing, born April 12, 1744 at Sandwich. Married Paul Green on July 8, 1778 at Sandwich.
