EDWARD WING
SON OF DANIEL WING JR. AND DEBORAH DILLINGHAM

Edward Wing, (Daniel Wing Jr., Daniel Wing, Rev. John, Matthew) was born September 7, 1687 at Sandwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. Edward died March of 1737 at the age of 49. Edward would marry three times. He first married Desire Smith in 1713 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Desire died prior to June of 1717 at Sandwich.

He married the second time to Sarah Tucker on June 1, 1717 at Dartmouth. Sarah was born April 23, 1693 at Dartmouth, the daughter of Abraham Tucker and Hannah Mott. Sarah died July 2, 1727 at Dartmouth at the age of 34.

Edward's third marriage was to Patience Ellis Wood on December 25, 1728 at Dartmouth. Patience was born about 1699, the daughter of Freeman Ellis.

(From the book; Ancestors of Robert Abell)
Edward had gone to Dartmouth, Massachusetts to learn a trade. After he was settled there for awhile he had gained a great deal of property. His father Daniel seems to have acquired a tract of 100 acres of land in Darthmouth, as early as 1711-12, and he disposed of an undivided interest in this tract to Edward, who subsequently purchased the entire property about 1713.

In the various deeds in existence given by Edward, he is termed a "husbandman," a "weaver," and a "inn-keeper." It is not improbable that he followed all of these occupations at the same time.

In 1725-6, Edward was elected a constable of Darthmouth and a warrant was issued to him to collect taxes.

The division of his estate was not made until Oct. 9, 1742 when his property was distributed to his wife Patience (there the wife of William Wood) and to his children.

The Friends records show that Sarah, the second wife of Edward, died 5th.mo. Aug. 2, 1727. Her youngest child Edward, was born July 27, 1727. The confusion in dates is caused, possibly, by the confusion in years, resulting from the change of the calender in 1751.

1. Hannah Wing, born March 13, 1719/20

2. Abraham Wing, born November 26, 1721
