ELNATHAN WING, SON OF ANANIAS WING AND HANNAH TILTON
Elnathan Wing (Ananias Wing, John Wing, Rev. John Wing, Matthew Wing), who was born Otober 29, 1692 and died between 1772 and 1777 in Falmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts, married for the first time to Elizabeth Dillingham. Elnathan married Elizabeth Dillingham on October 12, 1721, their marriage was performed by the Rev. Mr. Nathanell Stone. Their intention of marriage was posted on June 24, 1721 "June 24 day 1721 Then Elnathan wing and Elezebeth Dilingham had their intention of marriage Entered and ware accordingly published one october the 12 day 1721 Elnathan wing and Elezebeth dilingham both of harwich ware married by the Reverand mr Nathanell Stone." Elizabeth was born August 7, 1703 at Harwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts to John Dillingham and Elizabeth Hatch. Elizabeth died in May of 1722 at Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts...probably due to childbirth. Elizabeth's stone reads: "Eliz---- Elnathan Wing Decd May ye ----- 1722 in the 19th year of her age" Elnathan would lose both his wife and daughter in the same month of the same year. Elnathan Wing and Elizabeth Dillingham had one known child: 1. Elizabeth Wing was born May 6, 1722 at Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts...she died May 14, 1722. Elizabeth is buried at the Dillingham Burying Ground in Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Her stone reads: "Here lyes the Dau of Elnathan & Elizabeth Wing Aged, 8 days Decd May ye 14, 1722." Elnathan Wing would finally marry again to Hannah Allen on October 7, 1726 in Hannah's home at Chilmark, Dukes, Massachusetts. Hannah was born in 1707, the daughter of Samuel Allen and Mary Tilton. The Reverend William Hewes of Chilmark, Martha's Vineyard made a note in his diary that on October 7, 1726 he married Elnathan Wing and Hannah Allen of Chilmark. Their intentions to be married were posted on July 9, 1726 "July the 9 day 1726 Then Elnathan Winge of harwich come and Entered his intention of marriage to hannah Allen of Chilmark in order to be published to her as the law directs." Elnathan lived in Falmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts after 1763. He made a will in Falmouth on October 29, 1772. His will mentions his sons, Samuel, Jonathan, Stephen and Allen and five daughters, Elizabeth Mayo, Susannah Smith, Mary Cash, Amey Cooper and Hannah Wing. Elnathan appointed his sons Samuel and Jonathan as executors. It is believed that Elnathan died during May of 1777 in Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts. His will was probated in Falmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts on May 14, 1777. Elnathan is buried at the Dillingham Burying Ground in Brewster, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Hannah Allen Wing died September 22, 1763 and was also buried at the Dillingham Burying Ground. "In memory of Mrs. Hannah Wing ye wife of Mr. Elnathan Wing who Decd Sept. ye 22d 1763." Elnathan Wing and Hannah Allen had the following children: 1. Elizabeth Wing, born February 28, 1728/29 2. Elnathan Wing, born December 16, 1730 at Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Little Elnathan Wing died on January 21 1730/31. He was buried at Dillingham Burying Ground. 3. Samuel Wing was born November 5, 1731 4. Susanna Wing was born March 27, 1734 5. Mary Wing was born March 17, 1735/36. 6. Amey Wing was born June 14, 1739 at Harwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 7. Stephen Wing was born about 1742/43. 8. Allen Wing was born February 15, 1745. 9. Jonathan Wing was born about 1746 at Harwich, Massachusetts, died June 12, 1836. 10. Hannah Wing...date of birth unknown. Hannah was said to be the youngest child. Unconfirmed sources indicate that Hannah was born about 1748. Hannah Wing never married. |
