HANNAH WING
DAUGHTER OF SAMUEL WING AND MARY DILLINGHAM
Hannah Wing (Samuel Wing, Daniel Wing, Rev. John, Matthew), born December 1, 1679 in Sandwich, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts, married Benjamin Swift in Sandwich on February 24, 1703/04. They were married "solemnized" before Stephen Skeffe Esqr., Justice of the Peace. Benjamin Swift was born about 1682 in Sandwich, the son of William Swift the 3rd and Elizabeth Unknown. It is believed that Benjamin Swift was the first of that name who became a Quaker. It is assumed that Hannah Wing and her family brought Benjamin Swift to the Quaker religion. His name appears among the Quaker remonstrants in 1731 and he was fined many times for disturbing the public peace by his silent worship. All of his children married in the Quaker faith. Hannah Wing and Benjamin Swift had the following children: 1. Samuel Swift, born September 11, 1704 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. (There is no further record of Samuel Swift.) 2. Mary Swift, born October 11, 1706 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 3. Content Swift, born December 12, 1708 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 4. Zebulon Swift, born April 15, 1712 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 5. Benjamin Swift (II) born about 1715 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 6. Hannah Swift, born February 15, 1720/21 in Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts. 7. Elizabeth Swift, born August 19, 1722 in Falmouth, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. |
