Oseah Wing
Daughter of John Wing & Unknown

Oseah Wing was born in Yarmouth, Plymouth Colony September 12, 1652 to John Wing and Wife Unknown. It has generally been assumed by Wing family historians that Oseah was named for her aunt, Oseah Dillingham who was the first wife of Stephen Wing. While this is entirely possible, it should also be noted that Oseah was a name that was frequently used in the Dillingham family. Rev. Henry Dillingham, the grandfather of Oseah Dillingham was married to an Oseah...and one of their daughters was also named Oseah. If, as some Wing family historians believe, John Wing married Elizabeth Dillingham then the name Oseah may have been to honor Elizabeth's grandmother also. The other item that should be noted is that John Wing and his Wife Unknown were not noted for naming their children after family members...at least none that we are aware of at this time. Oseah seems to be the exception and John Wing Jr., who was apparently named after his father.

Oseah Wing would marry twice. Her first husband was Nathan Turner. Their date of marriage is not known, but it is believed that they were married at Scituate, Plymouth Colony which was Nathan's place of birth. Their first child was born on July 15, 1680. Nathan Turner was born on March 1, 1654, the son of Thomas Turner and Sarah Hyland. Nathan was baptized on March 25, 1655.

Oseah resided in Scituate, , Plymouth Colony after marriage. "She married Nathan Turner, a seaman of Scituate, and moved thither".

Nathan Turner died August 15, 1693 during a sea voyage to Virgina...he was only 38 years old. The estate of Nathan Turner was administrated on May 2, 1694 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony and the inventory of the estate was taken on the same day. The inventory amounted to £158, 18s and was presented at the Plymouth Co. Probate Court.

Oseah Wing Turner married for the 2nd time to Joseph White Jr. on September 16, 1696. They were married in Scituate, Plymouth Colony. Joseph was born May 1, 1674 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony to Joseph White and Lydia Rogers. Joseph died July 21, 1715 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony at 41 years of age. It should be noted that if Joseph's birthdate is correct that he was 22 years younger than Oseah. On the date of their marriage Joseph White Jr. would have been about 22 years old and Oseah would have been about 44 years old. I wonder if that caused any amount of scandal in the small town of Scituate, Plymouth Colony?

Despite the age difference between Oseah Wing Turner White and her husband Joseph White Jr., Oseah would once again be left a widow when her husband Joseph died July 15, 1715 at 41 years of age in Scituate, Plymouth Colony. Oseah would live to the relatively ripe old age of 77 years, she died on June 13, 1729 as recorded by Thomas Paine the Town Clerk.

Oseah Wing and Nathan Turner had the following children:

2. Elizabeth Turner, born January 1684/85 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony.

3. Nathan Turner, born April, 1689 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony.
