Rebecca Gifford (Sarah Wing, Stephen Wing, Rev. John, Matthew) born about 1689. Rebecca married Jacob Soule on January 22, 1709/10 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Jacob was the son of Nathaniel Soule and Rose Unknown. Jacob made a will at Dartmouth on August 12, 1747. History, Biography and Genealogy of the Families Named Soule, Sowle and Soulis, Volume I : "Jacob Soule (1), third son of Nathaniel (1) and Rose (Thorn) Soule, was born in Dartmouth, Mass., after 1688 and his name appears frequently in connection with the division and settlement of his father's estate. He married REBECCA GIFFORD, Jan. 22, 1709-10, by whom several children whose names and descendants will be recorded hereafter. This Jacob Soule was, like his brothers, a seaman and owned shares in several ships engaged in fishing and the whale hunting in the North. He was also a farmer in Dartmouth, living on his share of the land given by his father. He as the "third son" had a cherry cow, a red cow, a two-year-old heifer, a white-faced two-year-old steer, and a red yearling stage (stag). His part of the estate was estimated at 1905-02. There were also the articles as here mentioned, plow-tackling, lumber, two scythes and iron bar and some lumber. He died before Aug. 12, 1747, the probating of his will in which he mentioned his large family." Rebecca Gifford and Jacob Soule had the following children: 1. Joseph Soule, born February 16, 1710/22 at Dartmouth, Bristol Co., Massachusetts. Joseph married twice; Desire Tripp, Dinah Tripp. 2. Elizabeth Soule, born November 14, 1712 at Dartmouth, married unknown Tripp. 3. Oliver Soule, born September 7, 1714 at Dartmouth, died January 1715. 4. Rebecca Soule, born December 18, 1715 at Dartmoutth. Rebecca married Unknown Waite. 5. Nathaniel Soule, born January 23, 1717/18 6. Benjamin Soule, born November 18, 1719 at Dartmouth, married Meribah White. 7. Rosamund Soule, born January 28, 1723 9. Stephen Soule, born January 1, 1726/27
