SAMUEL WING, SON OF ANANIAS WING AND HANNAH TILTON
Samuel Wing, son of Ananias Wing and Hannah Tilton, was born in August
of 1694 at Harwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. Samuel died sometime between
October 25, 1773 and April 11, 1774 at Harwich at the approximate age of
seventy-nine.
Samuel married Mercy Wing on May 3, 1733 at Harwich, Massachusetts. Mercy, the daughter of John Wing and Bethiah Winslow, was Samuel Wing's first cousin once removed. Samuel married his cousin, John Wing's daughter. "Then Samuell winge entered an intention of marriage betwixt himself and marcy winge both of Harwich with me in this book --- Chillingsworth Foster Town Clerk may the thurd day 1733 " "Then Samuell Wing and marcy Wing both of Harwich ware married in Harwich by me Joseph Doane Justice peace" Mercy died before November 13, 1757 in Harwich, Barnstable, MA, at approximately forty-three years of age. The Plymouth Records, Book 49, page 51: "Samuel Wing of Harwich yeoman to Ebenezer Clapp of Rochester, March 13, 1760, " "all the right that descended to my late wife Mercy Wing deceased by the death of her brother John Wing, who was grandson to Mr. Kenelm Winslow late of said Harwich deceased, it being one-third part of the said John's part to a lot of land lying in Rochester between siad Clapp's homestead and land of Joseph Hammond which was conveyed to him by the said John by his said grandfather's last will." Samuel Wing made his will on October 25, 1773 at Harwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. He named his sons, Edward and Samuel as his executors. He mentions his sons, Seth, Abner, Elisha and Isaac and his daughter, Rebecca, Zerviah, Thankful, Hannah Hopkins and Mercy Snow in his will. Isaac Wing was not mentioned in his father's will...it is believed that he was gone (perhaps dead) because a partition of Samuel's land in November of 1774, makes no mention of Isaac, but the land is divided among the other five sons. < B>Samuel's will was probated on April 11, 1774 at Harwich. Samuel Wing and Mercy Wing had the following children: 1. Hannah Wing, born February 15, 1733/34 2. Edward (Captain) Wing, born October 11, 1735 3. Samuel Wing, born August 2, 1737 at Harwich, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts. Baptized on August 14, 1747, Samuel died before 1757. 4. Isaac Wing, born September 4, 1739 at Harwich. Died October of 1739. 5. Isaac Wing, born October 23, 1740 at Harwich. 6. Mercy (Mary) Wing, born December 24, 1742. 7. Seth Wing, born August 19, 1744. 8. Rebecca Wing, born September 7, 1746 at Harwich. Married William Sibley on August 28, 1799. 9. Zerviah Wing, born August 28, 1748. 10. Thankful Wing, born September 23, 1750 at Harwich. 11. Abner Wing, born August 9, 1752 12. Elisha Wing, born May 3, 1755 13. Samuel Wing, born August 1, 1757 at Harwich. |
