Samuel Wing
Son of Daniel Wing & Hannah Swift

Samuel Batchelder Wing (Daniel, Rev. John, Matthew) was born in Sandwich, Plymouth Colony on August 28, 1652. Samuel married Mary Dillingham before 1676 in Sandwich, Plymouth Colony. Mary Dillingham was born December 26, 1654 to Henry Dillingham and Hannah Perry. This is especially interesting in view of that fact that neither John Wing's children nor any of Stephen Wing's children marry Dillingham's...and yet Daniel has 2 sons that marry Dillingham women. (Daniel Wing Jr. married Deborah Dillingham).

Although Samuel is credited with a middle name, according to Raymond Wing, this is probably in error. Raymond writes; "While many sources state that Samuel, son of Daniel Wing had the middle name Batchelder, this is in error. No contemporary record exists of Samuel having a middle name and middle names did not come into vogue until around the Revolutionary War. It is believed this error came from a mis-reading of Daniel's will which mentions sons Samuel Bachelder John and Daniel. At the time the will was made (1698) commas were not commonly used.

Samuel received a mare foal to share with his brother John Wing in the will of his grandmother, Joan Sisson Swift. Joan Swift's will. Samuel was a member of the Friend's Meeting at Spring Hill and the records of his children's birth's were kept there. he was admitted a townsman and took the oath of fidelity at Sandwich in 1681. Samuel died Intestate. Administration granted Sept. 29, 1701, to his widow, Mary Wing. Inventory shows real estate, £384; personal property, £166, 5s.
